Golborne & Prescot men’s 3 saw a scratch side travel to Bolton 2 for first round of the Lancashire Cup competition. The early exchanges suggested 2 evenly matched sides would be playing out a tight contest, however G&P took a first half lead with a well taken Andy Portnell goal, cutting in from the left, and were unlucky to have a second disallowed from Tim Halliday.

After the break, the third quarter of the game was decisively. The away team started strongly and dominated midfield, creating several good opportunities and resulting in carbon copy 2nd and 3rd goals for Andy Portnell, and a fourth from Jude Scrutton finishing neatly after some good set up play from Nathan Felton.

Bolton pushed in the last 15m for a foothold in the game and nicked a consolation, but Golborne & Prescot saw out an excellent performance and 4-1 win to March onto the next round. Hat trick hero Andy P was named man of the match
