Match day 3 - and 3rd consecutive home match - saw G&PHC men’s third team come up against a familiar and well drilled opponent in Winnington Park 2. After an early onslaught, G&PHC took one of a handful of chances to go 1-0 up, via Duncan Boyd from a penalty corner. The away team created a number of chances, dominating in midfield but having gone 2-1 up, G&PHC levelled from a well taken goal in open play, scored by Nathan Felton. Winnington immediately hit back to make it 3-2 at half time.
Much of the pattern continued in the second half. The away team dominated the ball, but the goals scored reduced all round, not least due to some terrific goalkeeping from G&PHC keeper Gaz Whitfield, who deservedly won man of the match because of it. 2 goals interspersed in the second 35m saw Winnington secure all 3 points with a 5-2 win. More for G&PHC to work on next week away at Crewe
