What a day. 12 players. 3 games. 2 losses. 1 win. 100s of beers.

We kicked off our day against Bishop Auckland Rugby Club and were slow to adjust to 7s as we found ourselves down 20-0 before a Carl Ferguson try made it 20-5 at half time. Another Carl Ferguson try was then followed by a first try for Graham Mark, dancing his way past the defence and over the line to finish spectacularly. The comeback was complete when Luke Masters showed great pace on the outside before having the ingenuity to dot down under the sticks for Matthew Ferguson to seal the win with the extra two points.

Next up was Novocastrians RFC 'Unloveables', who had won won both their previous games. A strong P&S start saw Matthew Ferguson scored and convert giving us a 7-0 lead. Novos responded well and exposed P&S shortcomings to score 33 unanswered points.

Our final game was against a Tynedale RFC based team named 'Hastie's Heroes'. The most social game of rugby of the day saw the hosts take an early lead, before Carl Ferguson scored his third try of the day to make it 5-5. Hastie's Heroes began to capitalise on a tired P&S team, taking a 26-5 lead. Determined to finish the day with a try to his name, Tomo Clarkson pinned his ears back to run in from 50m after good interplay with Luke Masters. Tomo converted to make it 26-12 with a minute left on the clock.

A fantastic day of rugby was followed by a court session where players were handed 'fines' for various reasons, overseen by social secretaries Alex Fitton and Will Foster. Once all 'fines' had been issued, the team made the short walk to The Blue Bell, Corbridge where we watched the Lions succumb to the Springboks. A few beers and shots later, we moved on to The Pele Tower before calling it at night.

This is what community rugby is all about. Big thanks to all those who helped with the day, none more so than Brian and Paula Ferguson for supplying the gazebo filled with food and drinks. Lastly, we'd like to give a mention to Sportsworld NE Ltd and our sponsors Wellness Therapeutics, Ferguson Fitness and Think Small for enabling us to support Mind Charity by spreading the awareness of mental health through wearing our warm-up tops.

Match photos to be uploaded soon.
