Women win in a close encounter 22 v 20 against Tonbridge!
Today Pulborough Women hosted Tonbridge Juddians in an extremely tense and closely fought match. Pulborough took a hit early on with TJs scoring a try in the first 10 minutes of the match, but switched into attacking mode with some solid set piece ball. Speed machine Kerry made a break and ran almost the entire length of the pitch before getting chased down by a determined TJs fullback. Fortunately Back of the Match Abi showed excellent support to pick and dot over, drawing the score level. Centre Lauren then ran a brilliant line to break the TJs' defence once again, putting Pulborough ahead, before massive territorial pressure from TJs saw them level the score to go into half time at a 10-10 deadlock. TJs scored again after half time, with Pulborough struggling to deal with their strong forward runners. However a wayward TJs kick was seized upon by Kerry, who shot down the wing to score (despite almost missing the try line!). At 15 - 15 and 10 minutes to go it was still anyone's game, and it looked like TJs would take it when they scored from an attacking scrum to go up 15-20. With only 3 minutes remaining Pulborough kept the faith, pushing up the pitch and moving the ball to Lauren, who powered over the line for the bonus point try. With nerves of steel, Captain Shannon kicked the conversion to win the game 22-20 to Pulborough. Big thanks to Poppy, Ruby and Tilly from the U12's for being our amazing water carriers and all our supporters at the club. Pulborough are overjoyed with the win against a tough TJs side, and are looking forward to working hard at training ready for their away match next week to Cranbrook.
