It was important to keep everyone warm as it was the first cold Sunday this season so a fast pace was set right from the start!

Even the warm up kept the children on their toes as we married it with the game of ‘Simon Says’ which encouraged the importance of listening.

All 35 children embraced the good old favourite of British Bull Dog with big smiles on their faces followed by ‘Tag to Cones’ where the Defending Team ran well and won by one point.

‘Union Jacks’ really tested the children today as we ran the maximum of eight groups. It made it very important to think about the need for spacial awareness; something that they would not have been able to do at the beginning of the season.

Once again we brought in a new drill. ‘Slalom Run’ - can the defender tag the attacker before they score a try over the try line? This game pairs up the children and works on both their running skills and tagging.

Happy Birthday to Ben who wore his birthday present of a Pulborough Rugby Shirt with pride. It was his first day joining us and he did himself proud earning a “Special Mention” along with James Mace whose continued attention and concentration is an example to everyone.

Edward Tusler was a worthy winner of our first trophy with his rugby skills developing very consistently throughout the season. Matti Browne showed great concentration throughout the session and deservedly won our second trophy and George Jobber exhibited increasing skills with his tagging and running today and was awarded the last trophy.

Well done to everyone and don’t forget to bring your woolly hats and gloves next week!
