Whilst not a win that we wanted, lots of positives to take from a tough game

Pulborough hosted Heathfield & Waldron Ladies on the weekend, in Pulborough's first league match since they were promoted last season.
Pulborough started hesitantly, and some strong carries from Heathfield put the visitors on the front foot. Pulborough conceded 3 early tries and things looked ominous for the newly promoted team. Fortunately, Pulborough regathered and began to gain territory, with winger Kerry looking dangerous out wide and Forward of the Match Sadie putting in some bruising carries. Pulborough's scrums were also showing strength and it was only a matter of time before forward Ellie H rumbled over the line for Pulborough's first try, followed not long after by another from scrum-half Amy, sniping around the fringes of a ruck.
Pulborough continued strongly in the second half, with Captain Chloe crossing the white line again for Pulborough's third, and winger Mikaila pulling the hosts into the lead for the first time by scoring her first (of what will no doubt be many) league try for the team. However Pulborough then struggled under territorial pressure from Heathfield, conceding a penalty kick and a try. It looked like the hosts might still have a chance when Back of the Match Ellie G made a break and scored the team's 5th try, however Heathfield finished strongly with 2 more of their own to close out the match.
The team should take a lot of confidence and pride from the match, having played some amazing rugby and shown huge resilience and spirit. We go again and keep building!
