Guilford 4 vs Pulborough 4
This was a very competitive match with some excellent rugby being played by both teams. Both the tagging and passing by the Pulborough team was excellent with some very good tries being scored. It was very enjoyable to watch the children perform so well and in a very positive manner during this match. Pulborough were leading until the last few minutes when Guildford scored a vital try to even up the score. A good match from both sides played in the spirit of the game.
Pulborough 4 vs Wimbledon 5
Another very competitive match from both teams with very even attacking play from both sides. Pulborough scored some excellent tries and demonstrated superb support play during this match. Wimbledon were slightly better in defence which proved crucial at the end as Wimbledon ran out narrow winners. Again the match was played by both teams in a positive and fair way and Nick managed the Pulborough team excellently.
Roselyn Park 7 vs Pulborough 3
This was a very tough match for the Pulborough team against a very competitive and well drilled Roselyn Park. It took a while for the Pulborough team to adjust to Roselyn Park’s pressing and physical approach, hence why we were 5 – 0 down in the first half. A slight adjustment of our tactics and approach resulted in a better 2nd half from Pulborough and we scored 3 excellent tries which we should be very pleased with. The Pulborough team should be very proud of the way they played in this physical game when the weather was absolutely horrendous.
In conclusion, while the Pulborough U7 team didn’t win any matches in the Semi-finals the standard of play was excellent, and the togetherness and team camaraderie from the children was superb. We should be very proud of the way we played in this tournament and all the children of the U7 team contributed to good play and great teamwork.
I would also like to thank the parents who travelled so far to support the children and team and continued in their positivity and vocal support of the team when the weather was cold and extremely wet. Lastly, thanks to all the coaches who did such a great job of managing and helping the team in such trying conditions and made the day fun for all involved.
