Ladies put in a shift but not enough to beat top of the table

BLOOD AND GUTS----

Ok where to start----
Our senior ladies team travelled to a very cold and windy South London to play top of the table
Hammersmith and Fulham 2nds,
Our ladies started with a warm up, expecting a hard and competitive game, and from the kick-off that’s what it turned out to be,
Our hosts had a bright and strong start, resulting in a threat in our half 5 minutes in, a penalty coming from this led to our hosts first try, fortunately the conversion was unsuccessful !
Unfortunately we then proceeded to give away a few more penalties for minor infringements, leading to a dominant period for our hosts, however our ladies battled on bravely, and put in a ferocious tackling display but despite this more tries were scored by Hammersmith.

On 19 mins we lost our Fly half &co-captain Hannah Fos, to a cut on her forehead, a lot of blood, which needed hospital treatment.( I am pleased to report she is fine and at home after having stitches to the cut). We then seemed to suffer a number of small injuries which resulted in us using up our subs and going down to 12 a side for the start of the second half, however a brilliant and strong break from Gabby Rollinson playing 12, resulting in a try for us.

Our ladies seemed lifted by this and the fight back was on !!

Our reduced pack, led by our captain, Chloe Dudman, were fantastic in the contact area all-day and tackled and rucked liked demons, our backs, patiently waiting, were then let lose, and from good rucking and ball carrying from our forwards, after another well fought break from our 13, Charli Nye, broke through there defence and made a run for there line but got pulled down a couple of metres from their try line, a brilliant pop pass to the ever present 12,Gabby R, led to her second try of the match, unfortunately not successful with the conversion,
And with yet more time on the ball, Gabby R popped up again with a clean break, pinned her ears back and made a successful run for the try line to get a third try to end the match with a hat trick, and earning herself a well deserved back of the match award.

Overall a game of two half’s, against a very good opposition, we left it a bit late for a fight back but huge, huge credit to our ladies for having the belief and guts to have a good go and never at any point gave up.

FINAL SCORE—Hammersmith 51-15 PRFC Misfits

A special mention to a few of our ladies playing today, Carrie Chagri playing in her very first full 15 aside match for us, promised a few mins game time, but ended up playing the whole second half, and earned herself forward of the match and Sarah Ball, who has played in most positions, fantastic effort from her today, and Megan Casebow, our no9. Getting better and improving with every match she plays for us, and earned back of the match as well as Gabby.
Could mention everyone of our ladies today for the effort and hard work they put in, with the Xmas break coming up, chance for all our ladies to recover and rest from the knocks and bumps received so far this season, and back fresh for the second part of our season.

Finally our thoughts are with Paula and Hannah Whittington, and wish Hannah a speedy and full recovery,

Pulborough Rugby Club can be hugely proud, as are their coaches, of their ladies team, massive effort today. Unfortunately the result did not go our way or match up the type of game, few things to work on at training but all going in the right direction.
