Match report

A truly remarkable game at Jubilee Fields this afternoon saw the hosts desperately clinging on at the end despite being 6-0 up shortly after the HT interval.

The hosts opened the scoring inside 20 seconds when Tom Munday shot from the edge of the box. It appeared that he scuffed it slightly and a truer hit would have seen the keeper save it, but the scuff took it wide of the keeper and into the net.

Almost immediately Drake went millimetres wide at the other end with a piledriver, but it wasn’t long before Sway doubled their lead and a goal of absolute quality that if it were to be shown on TV would be repeated until the tape ran out. Some crisp, quick 1 touch passing down the right saw the cross come in and Munday was there again to side foot it home.

QK were struggling to deal with Munday and Brading up front for the hosts but thought they had pulled one back through Mouih but he was offside.

Another crisp 1-2 move saw Brading’s effort saved but Bockhart was there to head home the rebound on 23 minutes and it was soon 4-0 as Mark Brading side footed home a corner not cleared properly.

QK to their credit tried to get back into it before half time but the hosts defence stood firm until half time.

Whatever was said at half time by QK went out the window immediately as firstly Ritchie was allowed a free header on 48 minutes and then Ryan Brading had the freedom of the New Forest on 51 to head in Sway’s 6th.

And then Sway simply switched off. There appeared little danger as Moody came forward on 63 minutes but his delightul lob gave the small group of away supporters something to remember the day for. 2 minutes later the first looks of “Surely not?” across the home fans faces as Pearson was allowed plenty of time to slide home QK’s 2nd. On 72 minutes an almost identical goal, this time by Joe Griggs saw the first real squeaks from bumcheeks and seconds later Field in the home goal made a wonderful last ditch save to stop Moody making it 4.

QK were adamant they should have had a penalty minutes later when Drake appeared to be tripped but their calls were dismissed, but the same player did win a penalty on 86 minutes which somehow ended up in the net via the underside of the keepers body.

With 5 minutes injury time, there was still time for QK to carry out their remarkable fightback but despite getting in useful positions on more than one occasion they either got greedy or took a touch too many and in the end, the hosts hung on for the 3 points.
