1st XI get 20 pts on Saturday at home against Ludlow
By Quatt CC
Much needed win for the 1st's as they get back on track in the league following their defeat to Cound by recording a 4 wicket win over Ludlow
After winning his first toss of the season skipper Ade Evans invited Ludlow to bat first on what seemed another great deck prepared by Head Groundsmen, Barry Jones.
Ludlow's opening batsmen Richard Taylor and Dylan Grinker put on 21 for the opening partnership until C Jones broke the partnership getting Dylan Grinker (7) lbw. The pitch was indeed proving to be excellent and so taking the pace off the ball was the way to go with H Cargo and C Jones drying up the runs and building the pressure.
C Jones and H Cargo both bowled impressive spells ending up with 6-44 and 3-70 respectively. J Edwards bowled tidily at the death picking up a wicket and stemming the flow of runs.
In reply Quatt lost 3 wickets with just 75 runs on the board with A Biddle being the main contributor after a well played 30 leaving the game nicely poised. Up stepped T Hughes and C Jones who steadied the ship and then took the game away from the visitors with a 76 run partnership before C jones was caught off the bowling of H Martin for 35. C Harris then joined T Hughes at the crease looking to the finish the game in a hurry with a quick fire 38 off 25 balls before T Hughes (56) and H Cargo (0) failed to secure red ink.
A good win with everybody contributing but C Jones was the stand out performer with bowling figures of 6-44 and 35 runs.
