1st XI v Astwood Bank CC - Womens 1st XI

Quatt Womens 1st XI secured the first win of their 2015 season in a hard fought victory over Astwood Bank at Sambourne lane, Redditch on Sunday
Quatt, without injured wicketkeeper and captain Kelly Evans, loss the toss and were inserted in the the field, with Grace Barker making her keeping debut. Hosts Astwood bank got off to a shaky start when Hayley Robinson caught opener Claire Boycott in the slips in the second over off the bowling of Jordi Matthews and Charlotte Walsh struck shortly after in the fifth over to remove Andrea Griffiths.
Lucy Bousfield and Amber Capwell started to rebuild the astwood bank innings putting on a partnership of 51 runs. But a magnificent spell of bowling from Robinson (8 overs, 4 wickets, 29 runs) followed to remove Capewell on 44 and Clare Pym bowled Bousfield for 18. Robinson and Pym then cleared up the tail to bowl Astwood Bank out for 142 off 42 overs.
Quatt opened up with Jess Breakwell and Naomi Payne. Astwood Bank were boyed early in their fielding innings after Boycott delivered the ball of the day which pitched outside leg stump but jagged back to bowl Payne around her legs and whip off her middle stump.
Breakwell then followed in the fifth over for 8 runs, which brought destructive pair Robinson and Walsh to the crease, who were going at a good pace, with 42 on the board off just 12 overs.
However disaster struck when robinson was bowled in the 13th over, Barker followed in the 15th and Walsh was trapped lbw off the bowling of Maddison Adams to reduce Quatt to 70 for 6 with 25 overs still remaining.
This left it to senior player Louise Pugh to steady the innings. Pugh, ably supported by Megan Trickett and Jordi Matthews, hit an unbeaten 48 to guide the team to victory with three overs to spare.
