It was a frustrating day at the office for Quedgeley as they could only manage a draw against a very adventurous Coaley side.
Quedgeley started the game well although both teams tried to get forward, Wanderers moved the ball around but the final pass was just lacking with Tom Trigg and Scott Edwards being millimetres away from going through on goal. The first half finished 0 – 0 but the game was going to have goals as both teams had no intentions of sitting back.
And the first goal came straight after half time; Liam Kay’s through ball found Scott Edwards who beat the offside trap to toe poke past the keeper. But the joy was short lived as Coaley, on their next attack, went up the other end and scored. A deep free kick was not dealt with and the Coaley striker was on hand to finish at the back post.
This shocked the home side but both teams went for the decisive second goal, Scott Edwards went close when through on goal and the Coaley goalkeeper saved Jordan Rouse’s volley when it looked destined for the bottom corner. And Coaley were dangerous themselves, Scott Moroney made two brilliant stops as they tried to score on the counter attack.
The score finished 1 – 1, which felt like a loss to the home side as they had the chances to win it. But Wanderers can move on from this and hopefully learn from their mistakes.
