Quedgeley made it five games unbeaten in the league as they run out comfortable winners away at Coaley.
Quedgeley had the majority of the possession throughout most of the match as James Lawes and Ethan King had good games at the heart of Quedgeley defence. Wanderers created half chance after half chance and the inevitable first goal soon came, Pete Bull’s free kick into the box lead to a goal mouth scramble and Scott Moroney was on hand to smash home from 12 yards out.
Coaley were rocked and struggling to find any possession and Quedgeley doubled their lead 5 minutes later. A Coaley throw-in was intercepted by Chris Gooch who played the ball through to Scott Banner and he shot early sending the ball into the top left hand corner.
From here on Quedgeley had most of the play as they dominated the midfield, Coaley managed to steady the flow though as Quedgeley never created any other clear cut chances for the rest of the first half.
Changes were made for the second as half Jordan Rouse went up front and Pete Bull went in goal, but the game had the same pattern, the conditions slowed Quedgeley down as the rain picked up and the surface became very slippy. And Wanderers struggled in the final third but dominated possession. However to Coaley’s credit, they defended well and managed to create half chances on the counter attack. But the away side created the better chances and should have scored a lot more goals. Stuart Judd hit the bar with a header, and Jordan Rouse missed one of the chances of the season running in unopposed on the goalkeeper from 25 yards only to shoot straight down the middle into the keepers arms.
Overall it was a solid defensive performance from Quedgeley, but once again it was the same problem of players missing half chances instead of trying to create clear cut ones.
