Covid-19 (and it’s various variants) have hampered much of the world for near enough two years…. As we return to some normality in the United Kingdom, it has become evident that where players supporters, and South Western Train ticket inspectors have had a elongated time off to rest the bodies from niggling injuries. The waist bands have grown! This in part has been due to the increase in popularity Deliveroo, Just Eat, assorted meats; like cooked pigeon (masqueraded as a fine delectable Nando’s chicken) and a fine assortment all you can eat buffets in Surrey back alleys (it’s not what you know, it is what you can prove).
Matthew Taylor (in all his wisdom), took it upon himself to embark on a rigorous 8 week training regime (tantamount to a Soviet dictatorship) to try and whip the boys back into some semblance of the team that was in early 2020… When the lads could catch high balls, when the lads rocked up with a shot of port wine to warm the soul, essentially when the boys were getting into winning form!
It is widely agreed (and confirmed) that if any player (from Racal Decca of course), had Liam Williams’ opportunity in a 2v1 position to score for the British and Irish lions 3rd test…… We would have passed. This is credit and testament to the president towards instilling belief (as well as common sense) that glory for the team outweighs a dummy that wouldn’t sale at a buy one get one free 99p store.
As we look towards the future. There is hope and genuine optimism on the horizon. (Not if you’re Matt Hancock though, he needs to stay in that hole he dug for a while longer… ). Racal Decca’s young guns are certainly lifting the expectations in training sessions and mead drinking thereafter (unless you’re future captain Cole…. He certainly can’t keep up with the rigours of a drinking session in the castle). We do continue to wish them well as a lot of them have received their A-Level results. Although some may not be able to play week on week. With home learning being at the forefront of undergraduate education (as well as employment) these days. We will surely be able to see some talented individuals on grey Afternoon at the Tolworth Arms Park.
To our supporters….. family and friends, elder Racal Decca statesmen, random people we met on Tinder the day before. We sincerely hope to see you all very soon to share a drink, discuss Tolu’s potential tour next year, discuss life in general (outside of rugby). Please continue to check in on the website as a lot of our updates will be hosted there (including those dodgy match reports).
Final note: Those who can (where it is feasible), please get down to training sessions!
