Lakka brings you the good news from the weekends game.

After a succession of games being called off due to unavailability. Racal Decca were finally able to get a home match on the books. The soldiers were due to host Croydon 2s, but they had called off early Thursday. Racal Decca instead hosted league competitors Egham Hollowegians 2s

Today’s game had an emphasis on “bring a mate” to introduce new players to Racal Decca. Instead, the home side welcomed some old familiar faces instead:
Reland in the backrow
Big Matt at outside centre.
Coxxy (FYB) on the wing
In chill factor conditions, due North-East from the isle of Copt Gilders, Racal Decca’s long-awaited home game kicked off through the boot of Big Matt.

Both teams got off to a nervy start with neither having possession long enough to exert some sustained pressure… They were very much feeling each other out…. (like a dance, a dance of passion checked by caution, and anticipation of the unexpected).

One thing can be said. The home team had the advantage in the scrum. A missed kick to touch was fielded by the opposition winger who threw a pass forward to give Decca a scrum 10m out. The forward pack slowly marched Egham back across their own try line and Tokyo-Alan touched down for a classic no. 8 try.
Big Matt took the conversion and slotted it.

Just like waiting for a bus, then two come along; Tokyo-Alan set about claiming a brace off the back of another scrum (but different from the first.) With the scrum turning slightly at an angle the number 8 saw his opportunity to pick up from the base and dart for the try line. The turn of pace has been said to be akin of running through Heathrow airport to make a last Christmas flight to Japan. The opposition winger tried (and failed) to halt Japanese-Al’s progress and he dotted down in to the corner.
Big Matt took the conversion and missed…. Disheartened…. (like a kitten witnessing it’s mother put to the sword by a fox), he relinquished his place-kicking duties…..

At this point, the home team were getting slightly cocky with some rather questionable passing and some rather questionable kicking (Quincey, and Beefcake) - Egham seized on such opportunity when they charged down the fullback to claim their first score of the game.
Conversion scored.

The final try in the 1st half was scored through Lakka. Topp Binns (on more than one occasion) stretched his French legs with a devastating turn of speed and fed Big Matt who elegantly drove forward through the defensive line like a Giraffe running across the Serengeti (being chased by a pack of lions). Big Matt drew in 3 would-be defenders and offloaded to German-Larz to score between the sticks.
Conversion taken by Larry and scored

At 16:00hrs, the cold winds began to rise from the East, and the crisp October Sun began to set. Both teams returned for the second half…. Again, it was the home team playing with more purpose. Janni, Stroudy, Matty T, and Father Phelan making dominate carries through the heart of the defence…. -Like a scalding lance, through unadulterated butter.

Hefty tackles were flying left right and centre from Young Ash, Reland, Big Matt & Beefcake

Quincey sporting a new Harry Potter scar, set about his business to ensure he remained the starting scrum half (after his position came into doubt with the emergence of sick-note Hellman) – Along with the mesmerising feet of French-Binns, spaces were beginning to emerge out wide for Wingers Coxxy and Williams.

Williams almost got himself a try but was held short at the line. The resulting scrum in-field resulted in a try for Big Matt, (who cut a decisive line, and was not going to be stopped a few metres out).
Conversion scored by BeefCake.

Noticeably, the referee did not allow Ben to take a quick tap on more than one occasion when Decca got a penalty. The flanker did manage to get his just deserts late on in the second half with a barnstorming run to the try line.
Conversion missed by Beefcake.

Racal Decca’s final try was scored by Topp-Binns…. Like all good fly halves, French-Binns found himself lurking out on the wing. A few phases through the backline, and Jordan dotted down out wide.

The opposition team did manage to get themselves a second try in consolation but missed their conversion.
