Club Secretary16 Mar 2020 - 20:59

Activities at the Club suspended following statement issued by the FAW on Friday 13 March 2020.

Despite all our love for the game of football, it comes a distant second to the interest of health of our players, managers, committee and parents.
- Club Secretary

With the current situation surrounding the Covid-19 changing daily the FAW issued a statement on Friday 13th March 2020, with regards to footballing activity that comes under the jurisdiction of the governing body of Wales.

The Football Association of Wales has today (13 March) taken the decision to suspend domestic football at all levels in Wales with immediate effect until 4 April 2020due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

The intention at this time will be to resume the football schedule depending on the medical advice and conditions from the relevant authorities at that time.

The FAW is fully aware of the impact this will have on the domestic game but the health and safety of all fans, players, volunteers and stakeholders are of paramount importance.

The FAW will continue to monitor this situation on a day-by-day basis and will continue to provide updates when appropriate.

Our Club posed the question with reference to insurance provision during the suspension period, we received the following reply which was subsequently updated on the FAW website:

Any decision regarding training is a matter for a club and/or training facility provider, but the public health guidelines must be followed at all times.

The FAW's insurance providers - Bluefin - have advised the following:

"If a player suffered an injury from an accident during a training session or match the policy will respond accordingly.

"If a player is absent from work as a result of contracting coronavirus they would not be covered under the FAW personal accident policy for any benefits including loss of earnings.

"The policy in place does not extend for claims related to sickness; it will only respond in relation to injuries sustained through an accident in training/playing or travelling to and from such sessions."

Since the announcement the situation is changing daily with many other sports choosing to following the route of the football authorities and suspend fixtures/events.

Although the date of 4 April 2020 is the review date this maybe extended as he governing bodies take advice from the appropriate authorities on the matter. We shall inform all members of the club as soon as any new information comes to light, so for the foreseeable future both training and fixtures will be suspended for all our age groups. The club fully support the suspension imposed on football as we strive to remain safe in these unprecedented times for the whole country and the world in general. Despite all our love for the game of football, it comes a distant second to the interest of the health of our players, managers, committee and parents.

The Club Lotto draws will be reviewed in the coming days following on from the most recent UK Government statement, Monday 16 March 2020.

We hope that ALL our players can remain positive and if we do manage any more football this season to come back fighting fit ready to go, if it is not to be, please stick with us so we can plan, prepare and play in the 2020/2021 season.

At times like the we must learn to look out for those less able than ourselves to ensure they are safe and well and to all our fellow clubs we hope all involved with them remain healthy.

Remember, BE SAFE, BE KIND, BE HELPFUL
