Pheasants put on a show south of the River Trent with four great goals.

Radford extended their winning run to five matches as a stunning strike from Jonathan Jebbison was the pick of the bunch in a 4-1 win at West Bridgford, reports Will Hugall.

Jebbison, the older brother of Sheffield United and England Under-19 striker Daniel, sent supporters wild with a 39th-minute strike at Regatta Way.

It was the decisive goal after the hosts had equalised on the half-hour, leading to a game which the Pheasants eventually ran away with.

Radford shuffled their pack slightly for the midweek game, with Joe McLaughlin and Joe Meakin both on the bench as Dan Fletcher and Jebbison took their places.

On an absolute carpet of a pitch in south Nottingham, both teams took the opportunity to play good passing football early on, with Radford gradually taking the upper hand.

With each of the Pheasants’ front four in searing form, there was plenty of threat as Kyle Stovell and Jebbison both drove shots just wide, while Jevin Seaton had a dangerous effort deflected.

It was just reward, then, when in the 24th minute Stovell broke his scoring duck for the Pheasants.

A corner was whipped in from the right, and after the hosts couldn’t clear the first header, Stovell popped up in space to head into the top right corner.

Radford were in full control, but as their previous outing at Clipstone had shown, they needed a second goal to take the game beyond their opponents.

Quite the opposite occurred, as in the 30th minute, West Bridgford were back in it.

A long ball was pinged forward from midfield, and with the Radford defence caught out, Ashley Butterworth took full advantage by beating Yinka Adebowale to the ball and heading into an empty net.

Push again, therefore, was the message to the Pheasants, and so they did.

Conor Moore was sharp to clear a header off the line as the hosts tried to seize the initiative, with this intervention proving crucial.

It set up the night’s most memorable moment, when in the 39th minute, Jebbison took centre stage.

Given far too much space by the Bridgford defenders, the winger moved into position 25 yards from goal and launched an absolute rocket straight into the top right corner, adding yet another contender to August’s stacked ‘Goal of the Month’ list.

Heading straight to the Radderati in celebration, Jebbison recognised the importance of the goal at that stage as it paved the way for a comfortable win.

The game was perhaps robbed of a real contest, however, as the final action of the first half saw Butterworth dismissed for his second dangerous lunge of the game.

Against 10 men, Radford knew they had to take full advantage.

They didn’t falter in that task, with Stovell, Jebbison, Seaton and Moore all denied before Jordan Alls finally began the scoring in the second half.

In the 55th minute, the forward bagged his 10th goal from seven matches as he demonstrated the quick footwork that has been a trademark this season, losing the home defenders before slotting a tidy finish past Garry Doran.

The Pheasants obviously weren’t finished there, but would be frustrated for the next 30 minutes.

Alls’ replacement Callum Smith was denied from close range, while a Michael Fitzhugh shot was deflected and Seaton saw a vicious shot swerve just wide too.

Destiny Conteh almost got Radford’s fourth as he met a square pass and was denied in the goalmouth, but little did it matter, as Seaton eventually wrapped things up.

It came in the 87th minute, as an evening of bad luck for the striker was ended by a peach of a right-wing cross and an emphatic header, which sealed a sixth goal in seven games.

The win sends Radford up to second in the league standings at the time of writing, with a brief hiatus from the league this weekend.

Boston Town of the UCL Premier Division North are the visitors this Saturday in the FA Vase, as the flying Pheasants will look to avoid a capturing by the Poachers.

Kick-off will be 3PM at Selhurst Street, NG7 5EH.
