Match report as requested:
Ramgarhia Slough 1st XI played host to newly promoted Wootton Wanderers 2nd XI in the opening match of the season in the MBBO Div 8 East league. At pushback the rain had given way to a small heatwave, and this influenced the slower pace at which the game started. The early skirmishes were fairly even, but as the first half wore on, Ramgarhia eventually gained control of the midfield. An excellent move down the right saw Kuljit Bhachu play the ball to Amrit Bason, who in turn quickly fed the ball to Jimmy Asghar. After beating two players, Jimmy played the ball to Sabi Bason in the D, and he in turn released Uzi Khan to put the ball in the net at the far post.
The second half saw Wootton pick up the pace, but this led to spaces in their half for the Ramgarhia forwards to capitalise upon. Surjit Panwar controlled the midfield, and played the ball for Rocky Thakore to score Ramgarhia's second. Eventually, the heat took its toll on the Wootton players, and a shot by Papu Athwal was excellently played into the net by Uzi for his second goal. In the final minutes, a momentary lapse in concentration from the Ramgarhia defence resulted in a penalty stroke for Wootton, which was expertly placed into the corner by the Wootton striker.
Overall, the game was played in a friendly manner by both teams, and fairly controlled by the Ramgarhia umpires. A special mention for Dev Panwar, who played an excellent game for his debut match for the Ramgarhia team.
