The first game after clinching promotion proved to be a tough affair for the champions as they were given a stern test by a well organised Eastcote side. A slow start from the visitors encouraged the home side to press high and dominate the possession which was rewarded with a goal after 10 mins – an mazy run from their forward, evading 2 defenders and shooting past the keeper for one nil!. Ramgarhia could not get started, and were often exposed in midfield. This culminated in conceding 3 more goals, some which were soft, but never the less the score line reflected a bad first half for the away side.
Ramgarhia wanted to put on a performance for pride if nothing else and the second half proved to be better, Ramgarhia started to put more of a passing game together but the forwards found it difficult to create clear cut opportunities- Eastcote hit on the counter and scored a 4th goal much to the dismay of the away side.
After some good pressing from Kuljit Bhachu playing right half position- taking the ball into the oppositions D and getting a short corner the away side did pull a goal back through Sardara Dhoot – a deserved effort from a well worked routine. The goal proved to be the impetus the champions needed and scored again with 10 minutes left through a vicious shot from Papu Athwal- giving the young keeper no chance with that strike.
The away side finished the game in the ascendency but it was too little too late as the game finished 4-2 to the home side.
It was a good game against the side in second place, Ramgarhia will now want to rectify the defeat against Milton Keynes Samurai in their last home game next week.
A special mention to the teas- which are always good at Eastcote!
