Lloyd looks back at Hythe, a squad update, and forward to the Wasps' visit

We find ourselves currently 6 unbeaten and improving with every game. Last week against an excellent Hythe Town we were a little disappointed not to have left Southwood with all 3 points. First half in particular we had numerous chances, a blatant penalty turned down and left frustrated that their only shot on target, from a marvellous free kick gave them the lead. However I was pleased the players continued what they were doing and in my opinion got the very least they deserved come the final whistle.

The lads are showing a real resilience and togetherness. It’s important now we really look to try and press on. We’ve set some goals as a group and with players coming back from injuries our squad will soon be stronger than it has been all season.

I was pleased to introduce Connor Sanders last Saturday and although not quite 100% match fit yet, he provides another option to a competitive midfield. We do say goodbye though to Kyron Lightfoot. We will all remember Kyron’s contribution in the FA Cup match against Gosport and I wish Kizer all the best for the future.

Our opponents on Saturday are East Grinstead Town, who currently sit in 15th place in the Bostik South East, which I believe isn’t a true reflection of their quality. Matt Longhurst is a top manager and I’ve no doubt it will be an extremely tough encounter.

Hope to see you at Southwood.
