The Rams were under pressure from the start, with an early warning as Phoenix fired a long range shot that, with ‘keeper Watkins looking rooted to the spot, rocketed against the Rams’ bar and fell kindly for the Rams to clear their lines. This was Phoenix's only real effort of the first half, which saw a sparkling Ramsgate take the game to the hosts. With the sun at the Rams’ backs they were moving the ball very well and in the 5th minute a move down the left with great inter-passing saw the ball played through to Harry Stannard, who took a couple of touches and fired a little cracker of a shot to put the Rams one up.

The Rams midfield marshalled by Ollie seemed to have the stopping of our hosts and many of their attempts to push forward were broken up allowing the Rams to press forward. There were a few misplaced passes, and a couple of times when the player on the ball tried to beat one player too many, but overall the first 45 minutes were definitely the Rams, and they went in deservedly leading at half time.

In the second half the sun had set sufficiently so Watkins did not have the issues faced by the Phoenix ‘keeper in the first 45, however it was Phoenix that were in the ascendancy in this half and after just 10 minutes a scrambled an equaliser after the Rams missed chances to clear the ball, which rolled to Alex Teniola for a tap in. The Rams were under increasing pressure and had trouble keeping possession. In the 70th minute we saw Lloyd make a change, with Rory Smith going off for Sam Lawford in an attempt to ramp up the pass going forward, and this did cause some problems for our hosts as they struggled to cope. All in all a thoroughly entertaining match and the right result.

The point sees the Rams move up the table to 8th position.
