The Rams made several good chances, but took the lead in the 35th minute, when Sam Lawford went through 1-on-1 with ‘keeper McGill and slotted the ball into the corner of the net. The Rams doubled their lead 6 minutes later when a clearance from Luke Watkins released Rory Smith, ending up with just McGill to beat.
In the second half the Boro came out strong and pulled one back through Mo Kamara in the 68th minute, and although the Rams introduced loan-striker Leroy Hlabi for his debut, as well as Liam Dickson and Kyron Lightfoot, the score remained the same – and a worthy 3 points.
