Ben Deacon set to join the 100 club

Ransomes Sports joint manager and player Ben Deacon looks set to reach a major milestone for the R's this weekend as he is expected to feature in the home fixture with East Bergholt United.
Ben, now 36, played his youth football at Ransomes for both St. Johns and Ransomes Sports before attending Bury Academy for three years. He then played one season for Ransomes (2005/06) before joining Needham Market and then embarking on a career of Eastern Counties football that took him to clubs such as Mildenhall, Hadleigh, Brantham Athletic, Stowmarket and Ipswich Wanderers.
He returned to Ransomes in 2018 following their relegation to Division One of the SIL. Alongside Paul Allen as joint manager, both showed colossal commitment to rebuilding the side and they finished their first season together in 5th place. Things however were to get better, as Ben was part of the Rasnsomes team which won promotion back to the Senior Division in 2020.
It has certainly taken Ben longer than expected to reach this landmark but then, we have been in the middle of a pandemic these past 18 months. He has also taken a slight backseat these past two seasons, preferring to concentrate on his coaching and managagerial duties at the club. Two goals against Leiston St Margarets however, when on as a substitute, has seen Ben restored to the starting line up these past three weeks, and he added a further two goals to his tally, which now stands at 68, against Halesworth.
Ransomes Sports have got better over the time Ben has been at the club, and he has been a massive part of the success in moving the club forward. Ransomes Sports would like to congratulate Ben on his achievement and thank him for his continued hard work and dedication to the club.
