Ransomes Sports travel to Leiston St. Margarets this weekend and it could well be a highly entertaining game. Ransomes have just kept their second clean sheet of the season following last weeks win over previously undefeated East Bergholt. Leiston St. Margarets meanwhile, have been much improved in their performances of late despite remaining pointless so far this season, and narrowly lost out to high flying Halesworth Town by the odd goal in three last time out.
Whilst it is looking like a long, difficult season for the Saints already, this meeting could be seen as a crossroads for the home side as another defeat could see them at risk of being cut off at the foot of the table,
Ransomes will need to be mindful of this as their own campaign has stalled on a couple of occasions already this season, as they appear to be a mis-firing proposition against lower placed sides.
Leiston St. Margarets will undoubtedly fancy their chances of breaking their duck, particularly after they impressed with their performance in the corresponding fixture only last month. Taking an early lead in this game, Leiston battled gamely to defend that advantage, only to be pegged back by a late Ransomes rally.
Ransomes management will be hoping this time around their attack offers more against opponents who have conceded more goals in the Senior Division than any other team (and no team has scored fewer either). That said, no team outside the bottom two have scored fewer than Ransomes. To this end, Ransomes will hope Tye Webb's goal against East Bergholt last weekend is proof that the striker is regaining his confidence, and that some of his teammates will do likewise.
Ransomes will need to caution against any excessive optimism in this game as Leiston St. Margarets will be an awkward opponent, but the R's will not take this game lightly. They are however, in good form, and will be full of belief after their win last week.
