2. Dennis Hickie

Denis was one of the fastest men in Irish rugby history with an awesome strike record for both Leinster and Ireland. He earned 62 caps for his country – the most capped winger in Irish rugby and one of nine players to break the 50 caps barrier. He is also one of Ireland's top try-scorers with 29 under his belt – a record only beaten by Brian O'Driscoll.

Like his father and uncle before him, he played for Leinster and was a stalwart of the team. Over his 11 year stint with the side, he scored an incredible 59 tries in 130 appearances for Leinster .

He was called up for Lions Tours to New Zealand in 2005 before relatively early retirement after the Rugby World Cup in 2007.

Speaking about his decision Hickie said, “ I have had a very enjoyable and fulfilling career as a professional rugby player. I entered the senior ranks at the dawn of the professional era and benefited from all the advances in that time. I have now decided that the best time to end my career is immediately after the upcoming World Cup”

Ratoath Rugby Club President Derek Gillen adds “Denis as one of the true gentleman of the game both on and off the field. Denis has been an example for young players to aspire to, with his passion and commitment to Rugby. Denis is a regular visitor to Ratoath RFC where he is an honorary member. We look forward to seeing him more regularly at our club now where he has many good friends.”
