Sunshine and Rugby in Greystones

Sunshine and Rugby in Greystones.....

after a late and a little gloomy start (we finished the first half 4 tries down with no reply from our side) the sun started to shine! ....maybe it was shining all along but nobody from Ratoath noticed!

As we kicked into the 2nd half the home team scored once again but that was to be the last score for them. Our brave gladiators (did I mention we had no subs available - players had to play through their knocks) reached deep into their souls, released their inner monsters and put on a massive display of tackling and counter attacking.

Our forwards started to demolish their opponents at scrum time winning several balls 'against the head'. This seemed to lift the whole team and soon the tries started to come. We had four unanswered tries and were completely dominant towards the end of the game. ultimately the only thing that beat us was the clock! We have to thank Henry for the fitness work he's being doing with the lads as this enabled them to stay in the game while their opponents were tiring.

While Greystones had two XXL sized players (where do other teams get these giants??) our lads were able to stop them on multiple occasions, which was great to see and augurs well for the future as in the past we have lost to teams who relied on a big ball carrier.

All in all an amazing performance from 1 to 15....if I could have picked 15 M o M's I would!
Couldn't be prouder of our lads for taking the game to a team 2 levels above them in the league tables. In the end it was 5 tries to 4 - we did lose one to a knock on over the line , so it was that close!
Well done to all,

the coaches....
