Lovely day for Rugby!

14 players lined out for two games against Navan this morning it some unexpected warm sunshine. That bit may not have mattered to our junior warriors but the parents on the sideline were all smiling (or maybe it was just squinting into the sun?)

The first game was a tough one with some very large players on the Navan team, and in spite of a good start Navan got the upper hand through some aggressive rugby. However the players fronted up well dug deep and gave it everything they had and finally crossed Navans line before the final whistle. Great to watch the team spirit growing amongst these guys even though we were short some players. Absolutely would have to be proud of the way they never gave up.

The second game was more evenly matched with Ratoath leading the scoreline through out the game. You could see the players growing in confidence and beginning to enjoy themselves, with great competition for the ball by both sides throughout the game in rucks, mauls, tackles which made for very entertaining rugby to watch.

It would be almost unfair to pick out individual players for tries , tackles, or whatever. To paraphrase a certain politician " they have done the team some service, they know who they are. No more of that." The whole team made a big step up today and it is probably best appreciated as a team effort. Well done to all!

Great support from the parents! It always makes the game more enjoyable for the players (and the coaches! - we thrive on the abuse ;-)) Thanks to one and all, and the others who have been there during the year too!

Sadly we say good bye to Sean who played his last game for us today. We will miss his go forward ability (brick walls wouldn't stop him) but wish him well at Coolmine who I'm sure will be delighted to have him...(and if they don't Sean you're always welcome back :-) )

lastly but by no means least, thanks to Navan for hosting us, for good refereeing and for the cakes and sandwiches afterwards.
