200 Club 16 of 25

16. 200 Club Newsletter 12, January 2018.

Dear 200 Member,
Can I wish you all a very Happy New Year and hope that 2018 brings you all that you wish, including a win in the 200 Club draws.
Unfortunately we have to report the passing away of Peter Strang, a very valuable Club member and 200 Club member. We express our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
The Honours Cap lunch was held last Saturday at the Club and it was good to see some club stalwarts who had not been at the Club for many years. It was also good to see Dave Carmichael, loyal 200 Club member, at the game against Windsor
Unfortunately the 1st XV couldn’t win against a speedy Windsor team who took the chances that they created. Our team played a good style of rugby but couldn’t quite match the Windsor team.
The winners for December are :
£100 – Number 10 – Mike Brooks. A man who does so much for the Club and also in on the 200 Club committee. It is not a fix!!!!!
£50 – Number 75 - Keith Searle. A player with the Rhinos
£25 – Number 99 – Roger Donachie. He has been on the RRFC Committee and done lots of behind the scenes work.
If Keith and Roger would be kind enough to e-mail me their up to date addresses then I will forward their winnings to them.
At the 200 Club committee meeting last week it was decided, in view of the increased numbers in the 200 Club, that from the January 2018 prizes would be £200, £100 and £50 for the monthly draws. It was decided to leave the April and October draws at £500, £250, £100, £100 and £50.
With increased prizes for our winners comes more money to donate to the Rugby Club. We are anticipating that we will donate at least £5500 to projects within the club.
If you are in charge of a section of the Club, or think that your group have a worthy cause, then please put in a bid to the Executive Committee. They prioritise the bids and the give them to the 200 Club Committee for consideration.
As you may know we have donated money to help purchase a new cooker in the kitchen. Gina who does the RRFC catering was quoted as “ The 200 Club has changed my life”
What a testimonial to the 200 Club. Our thanks to Kevin Mee for all his work on the installation of the cooker. Having put this effort on behalf of the 200 Club, perhaps he will now join the 200 Club!!!!
The 200 club are having a buffet lunch on February 17th before the home match against Wallingford. I am sure that more of you wish to come and meet your fellow members than have replied so far. Lunch will be for 1.00 p.m. so please come along. The cost will be £5 per head.
Please let me know by e-mail if you wish to come, don’t just turn up on the day.
Can I remind you that there is a VP Lunch before the home game against Stow on the Wold on January 27th.
We are fast approaching our 200 target for membership. If you wish to buy a second membership then you will need to get in quickly. Thanks to all the new members who have joined since the last news letter.
If you are a “Cash” member, you will receive a new application form and a letter reminding you that your membership will be expiring. We would prefer it, when you re-join, if you felt able to sign up for a standing order. This will mean that we won’t have to write to you every year to re-join. Thank you in advance for this.
Thanks to you all for your continued membership, you are making a good contribution to the Rugby Club.
