The 200 Club are continuing to fund projects within the Club and have approved buying some practice balls for the Under 6’s and some Subsuits for the Under 13 Girls.
We are also going to start an Honours’ Board for the life members elected by the Club.
If you wish to apply for 200 Club funding, then put your request in writing to Stuart Spindler, Club Chairman and to me, 200 Club Organiser. The Club Exec will consider your application, see if it fits in with the club plans and then forward it to the 200 Club Committee for final approval.
If you wish to have something new for September, now is the time to think about those projects. The Exec Committee meet on July 2nd to look at any applications and the next 200 Club Committee meeting is July 11th. If it is not approved then, it is unlikely to be here for September.
The Memorial Day last Sunday was a great day at the Club. It started with the presentations to the Minis and Juniors Sections, followed by an exhibition of Walking Rugby before the main event.
We said “Goodbye” to our recently deceased friends and teammates and then watched a match between two Reading sides, composed of male and female players of all ages putting on an exhibition match that certainly contained a few outstanding plays and lots of enthusiasm.
No one was sure which team won!!
It was marked by the appearance of one supersub , Craig Hunter, although from the profile he was mistaken for Director of Rugby, Andy Arter. Craig played with his usual attitude and perhaps deserved a bigger accolade for surviving.
The Rhino have also survived their tour as did Bulgaria! It was a good old fashioned tour with fines, drinking games, Paddy’s walking tour and very little rugby, in fact 25 minutes before rain stopped play. They have now started saving for next year.
The Club’s AGM is tomorrow night at 7.00 p.m. at the Club so please make every effort to attend. Catch up on the Club plans, the finances and support Stuart Spindler as he reports on his first year as Chairman.
There will be some rugby from the Southern Hemisphere on the TV for you to enjoy before we enter next season when there will be the World Cup from Japan to start off the rugby year.
