6. 200 Club Newsletter Number 23, Jan 2019

Dear 200 Club Member,
Happy New Year and welcome to Newsletter number 23.
Firstly, some sad news. Colin Barrett, a Life Member of the Club and very long standing 200 Club member passed away on Christmas Day. Colin has held many posts in the Club over the years, President, Chairman, Trustee and was awarded the Honours’ Cap in 1954-55. He continued to support the 1st XV before Christmas. I think there are some of his 1st XV team photos that will be donated to the Club and added to the “wall of photos” in Rumbles. He will be sorely missed by all his friends at RRFC.
The 200 Club draw for December has been made and another first for the 200 Club. We have one member, with two numbers, who has won with both of them
£200 – Number 138 – Dave Parish
£100 - Number 90 – Phil Wilson
£100 – Number 37 – Dave Parish. Congratulations to our winners, spend your winnings wisely.
I have told you about the update of Rumbles Bar. We have now got hold of some photos of the Ladies’ Teams and they should be going up on the wall soon, as well as some of the earlier 1st XV photos. If you haven’t been to Rumbles yet, make it a priority when you are next at the Club.
The 1st XV are having an inconsistent time since the start of the year. They lost to league leaders Windsor, but improved in the second half to outscore them. They then lost the local derby against Abbey with the opposite being true. They had territorial advantage in the first half but couldn’t score enough points and then were outplayed by Abbey in the second half. They did show much more determination to come from behind to beat Slough last Saturday. They are home against Stow on the Wold this coming Saturday and it is to be hoped that they can maintain this form in front of the Honours’ Cap holders.
Other dates you may not be aware of are:
Feb 16th 2019 – Past Players’ Day; March 9th 2019 – VP lunch; April 6th 2019 – VP lunch
May 4th 2019 – Memorial Game; May 16th 2019 – AGM.
Come to the Club to meet old friends, or even new ones, support the teams and help to increase the bar profits.
Best wishes,
Graham
