Emmer Green Incident

I am sure that you have all heard about the tragic incident that happened in Emmer Green at the weekend. The boy who lost his life was Olly Stephens and he attended Highdown School.

U13s Coach Matt Gander and his son Ben knew Olly well, as did a number of that age group through the school connection.

Reading RFC extends its sincere sympathies to Olly’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

If you or a member that you know has been affected by this tragedy, the Club will do its best to provide support. Please speak to your Team Manager in the first instance, or contact RRFC Safeguarding Officer Sharnjeet Ragubansi on ragubansi@gmail.com

It may help that St Barnabas Church will be open for private prayer with a book of condolence and lighting of a candle from Thursday 7th January to Saturday 9th, 0930 – 1640 hrs. On Sunday 10th January at 4 pm a balloon release is being organised in memory of Olly.

Stuart Spindler – Chairman, Reading RFC
