Reading RFC celebrates another great season with their annual Presentation Day

The 2012-13 season draws to a close and, as is now team tradition, the Under 8s took part in the annual Presentation Day festivities with great enthusiasm.

The more hardy soles also took part in what they hope will be the first of many pre-Presentation Day Annual Parent & Player (or Dads & Lads / Mums & Lasses for the less politically correct) camping extravaganza. (OK, so it was a bunch of us with tents, games, BBQ and a few beers!). A great time was had by all and we will be looking to roll this out to the rest of the Club as a standing pre-Presentation Day event next year. Coach Dom (see picture below) took "camping" to new extremes...

The team raised £160 with our Sweetie Kebabs and "Kicking a Ball into a Tyre" contest. We were even joined by ex-England and Leicester full back Tim Stimpson who tried "Kicking a Ball into a Tyre"... he missed!!! (sorry Tim!)

So, back to the rugby. 2012-13 was … errr … wet and cold! Despite this the Under 8s made great progress through the year. What started as an unruly bunch of children became a hard tackling team of tag ruby players. We only made it to two festivals, losing the rest to the weather … and one of those was our own!!! Even with this lack of competitive play, the Under 8s were still noted to be the best team at each festival by the other teams’ coaches. We came very close to winning the Slough Festival, missing out only by losing our first match, again their coach said Reading were the better team!

We (the Coaches) have had loads of fun this year working with a great team of rugby players. We’re all looking forward to next year and contact, and watching our great team continue to develop as amazing players. Well done team!!!

And here is Coach Dom "Camping"!!!
