Reading Rascals - New Players Welcome

A huge welcome to Reading RFC Under 11s (aka Reading Rascals) 2021-22 season - whether you are a family returning or a new member embarking on their first rugby experience. We train or play every Sunday from September until May 09:30-11:00 - please contact one of the coaches if you would like to come down and give it a go!

After the disruption of the last 2 seasons, we are very glad to be able to incorporate all aspects of the game we love once more. We will be concentrating on our core skills while having fun and playing safely. Training is through a mixture of games and small skill zones building confidence as individuals and in each other as a team.

If you have any questions please contact Gemma Green (Team Manager) rrfcrascals@gmail.com and she will be happy to get back to you.

For under 11s your son must be aged Year 6 at school.

The first 4 weeks are free as a taster session for new players.

Some more information about the club and mini section:
Reading Rugby Football Club is proud to be one of Berkshire's oldest Rugby clubs. We have always worked hard on ensuring that all our players and their family enjoy themselves. We are a very family friendly place and everyone can get involved, mothers, fathers even grandparents.
We cater for boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 learning and competing in mini rugby. From the start, at U6 (Year 1), where the children learn their skills engaged through a series of structured games; promoting confidence, determination and self belief while developing agility, coordination and team work. Progressing, to competitive tag rugby at U7, contact at U9 and finishing the Minis (at Under 12) fully prepared for their transition into the full 15 a-side format of the game at U13.
We are an all-inclusive and exciting Mini Rugby community, sponsored by The Oracle.
We extend a warm welcome to all players, both boys and girls of all abilities, and we offer a 4 week free trial. We recognise that children develop at very different speeds and as such we structure all age groups to ensure our players are engaged in ability appropriate training formats and fixtures, in recognition of this development journey.
Training is at the club’s Holme Park ground in Sonning every Sunday of the season from 9:30am. The U11’s finish at 11:00am.
We take the welfare and safety of our players very seriously; ensuring that all on-field helpers are DBS checked and suitably qualified medical assistance is on duty each week. We are the only club in Reading with the RFUs “Whole Club Seal of Approval”, which provides a quality benchmark for the standard of coaching, medical cover and insurance for all our players
We encourage all players to play the game in the right spirit, perform at the best of their abilities, to be gracious in victory, magnanimous in defeat and respectful to the officials, the opposition and their team mates. The development of such values, we believe, will be of benefit to our youngsters well beyond the sports field.
