Amazing last gasp win

On a day when the wind was blowing a gale and there were regular showers I think the girls were glad to be playing on the AGP at Aylesbury.

A lat minute unavailability of Abi Hicks due to illness meant the squad was
1. Milsom, Melissa
2. Tabb, Kim
3. Robson, Amber
4. Sutherland Jessica
5. Bayliss-Binks, Lucy
6..Edgar, Fern
7. High-Milam, Cerys
8. Lawrence, Alice
9. McNaney, Olivia (Capt)
10. Pacho, Karen
11. Roberts, Emily
12. Whitehouse, Millie
13. Bailey, Abbie-Louise
14. Eldridge, Mia
15. Wilson, Hannah
Replacements (all used)
16. Armstrong, Ellie
17. Clark, Caitlin
18. Deacon, Alice
19. Hooper, Jasmine
20. Palmer, Charlotte
21. Whitton, Holly

The first half was a tense affair, despite our dominance in the scrum (the case throughout the game whichever combination of front row we used) LS scored first but the conversion was missed, We swiftly returned the favour, with Cerys on the end of the move, back to 5:5, lots of flowing moves (from both sides) stuttered to a halt with knock on's and missed catches in the gale conditions but just before half time Cerys burst through the centre of the defence only to be stopped on their 22. Abi Bailey was in support and dotted down downwind of the posts - conversion missed and halftime called at 10:5 to us

2nd half was more of the same shortly into the half Kim left the field, Caitlin came on and a rejig of the scrum saw Charlotte at hooker with no detriment to the stability/drive, half way through the half they scored to make it a tied game at 10:10 (at this point the wind was so strong their kicker was almost blown back as she went to start her run up) - ferocious defence from both sides and the subs benches steadily emptied to keep 30 on the pitch. The fwds took it up hard and then the backs were aiming for the space round the edges but still both defences held firm and it looked like it might go to extra time. However with 5 to go and tiring bodies across the whole pitch, LS managed to get a try in the corner. 10:15 with only minutes to play. A long KO with a following wind and strong chase by Mia led to a scrum 5 and with a series of fwd drives it was worked infield for a score under the posts (Cerys came up holding the ball). Fern managed to convert in a howling gale and it was 17:15 us with 2 to play. Nealry all that 2 was played on our tryline with the girls throwing everything they had into defence - several times the ref pinged us for ruck infringements (not rolling away and offsides) but they repelled the 5m penalties until finally a LS player held out just outside the line made a double movement to try and score - penalty to us. Having checked time had expired Olive tapped it and then hoofed it as far off the pitch as she could to the relief of the girls and massive cheers from the supporting parents. Both teams played great rugby in atrocious conditions and the tackling was immense - either team could have walked off winners but thankfully it was ours which did.

The game was reffed by Charlotte Williams who made excellent use of advantage to keep the game flowing on a day that could have been very stop/start in the conditions, this likely helped in ensuring it was played in great spirits with very little niggle despite the occasion.
