If you want to go fast then go alone, if you want to go far then go together.
Selection goes through cycles. In May and June we often look at availability on Tuesday evening and find we are short players for the four sides. That often means we are phoning round to check availability when it’s not been marked on the app. The last few weeks we have had the situation where we’ve had fifty people available. This brings it’s own headaches. Captains have to balance putting out the strongest side with that of wanting to be loyal to those that have been available throughout the season. These are tough discussions, it is not unheard of that a captain or vice captain have offered to sit out because they feel players don’t deserve to miss out. Captains are then responsible for informing players why they have been dropped rather than finding out via the publication of the team sheets. This can take a little time. Add into the mix a pingdemic, and this can cause further delays because we are then checking constantly checking we have the right information and each team has eleven. With the 4th team we are looking to rotate players so if you’ve missed out this week then we aim to give you a game next week. If you need to know if you are playing as you want to make alternative arrangements before the sides are released them please contact myself or Rak. JP
