Saracens Herts League roundup - 24 July

Another good weekend of results saw three of Redbourn’s teams extend their pole position in their respective leagues.

On the Common in a match sponsored by Redbourn MOT Centre, the 1st XI dominated St Albans, scoring a mammoth 297, thanks to sizeable contributions from all the top 4. The bowling quartet of Bury, Darvell, Moyle and Arnold ensured victory, with wickets shared around to skittle St Albans for 110. Scorecard Table

The 2nd XI won by an even larger margin, cruising to an excellent 10 wicket win against OA’s. Wickets were shared in bowling OA’s out for 112 and the two openers, Stuart Barker and Chris Godfrey rapidly knocked down the runs inside 15 overs. Scorecard Table

The 3rd XI was sadly the odd one out this weekend, falling victim to some poor batting, being bowled out for 118. A brief glimmer of hope was shown when they had West Herts 12-2, but a third wicket partnership of 81 took victory out of reach. Scorecard Table

The 4th XI bought home the jerk bacon on Saturday, with a fantastic win against Old Camdenians. Having been stuck in by their opposition, Redbourn showed it was a good toss to lose, with the ever-reliable Antony Mauder scoring 57 and Martin Benfield 43* on their way to a total of 193. Redbourn were just as ruthless with the ball, Andrew Dewhurst in particular, who ended with figures of 3-9 off 6. Scorecard Table

On Saturday 31 July the 1st XI travel to Stevenage, with the 2nd XI hosting Sawbridgeworth II on the Common. The 3s are at the Rec against Baldock II, with the 4th XI away to Hatch End. The home fixtures this weekend are sponsored by Supreme Wealth Management.
