Wood becomes Spillane`s ninth signing of the close season period to date and is another former Stansted player, although over the previous three terms the players appearances for the Hargrave Park outfit were restricted due to his commitment to a three-year course at Leeds University. But with that course now at an end, the player relishes the opportunity to join the new Spillane era at the Step 4 club, albeit as a prelude to the imminent return to training ahead of the pre-season friendly programme, Wood, who also played for Broxbourne Borough, is still suffering from injury sustained whilst captaining Leeds University against Birmingham University. However, he wore the Leeds armband with immense pride and has savoured every moment of playing top class university football where he led from the front as a regular.
The Redbridge boss said: “I am so pleased to have signed Craig. His commitment to the cause is first class. He is capable of operating at a high level and I cannot hide my delight that he has now officially put pen-to-paper for us.
“His attitude and mind-set are to be much admired.”
