Redbridge Capital league team were beaten 3-0 at home last night to Aveley.

REDBRIDGE 0 AVELEY 3 Att 42

Redbridge suffered a home capital league defeat to Champions Aveley on Thursday night.

New manager Kevin Durrant was in the home dugout for the first time and witnessed a disjointed first half with a much improved second period.

The game exploded in to life after only just 25 seconds when Aveley were awarded a penalty when Winston in the home goal committed a foul. Mbala's weak penalty was wide of the goal. Within 8 minutes Aveley did take the lead when Mbala made amends with a low effort past Winston. Michael Marin almost brought Redbridge level on 11 when he hit just wide of the goal.

On 24 Aveley extended the lead when Abbs Thompson slotted home unmarked. Within 5 minutes the game was effectively over when Mbala was again on the score sheet when he ran through unmarked.

Early second half substitutions by Redbridge helped the side settle down and McLeod had 2 efforts during the half to bring Redbridge back into the game. Redbridge would have been pleased with the second half performance after a disappointed first period with new players adjusting to playing together.

The capital league side have a rest now for 2 weeks, before they entertain Thurrock on 14th October with a 7.45pm kick off.
