Back in May of 2016 club owner and current manager Andrew Dalzell was having a club AGM with Horwich Rmi where he was running there 3rd team after he was given charge of after he snapped his ACL while playing for their 2nd team the previous season.

During that meeting unfortunately some members in the club decided that for the next season and beyond they wasn't going to continue with a 3rd team and that none of the players from that team would be brought up to the 1st or 2nd team but the manager could have a position on the sides to help with kits an to tell players off at games.
With respect & loyalty to the players that had stuck by him the manager Andrew decided to turn down the offer and hoped to give them a club to continue to play league football for.

Things seemed to evolve very quickly form that point on as a kit was designed and a potential squad took shape and then a club sponsor came forward in the form of Adam who ran the Red lion pub at four lane ends Bolton, That evening a application to Lancashire FA for sent and few days later Red Lions Fc was born.

The club have had a hard start to life in a very strong Wigan & District amateur league but they're respected by many other clubs for there persistence hard and that no matter what the score they don't start kicking chunks out of opponents but most of all they keep playing with joy for the game and always will be the same but with more goals in there favour.

In 2020/21 season the club hopes to have their own football facilities instead of renting a venue from Bolton council and set in motion the second stage of development at Red lions fc which will be have youth teams and become self substainable for the future which then can help the local community and local businesses.
