Hi All,
I hope all is well with you and your family.
I just want to give you a quick update on some club related news.

As many of you know this week we heard the sad news that a member of the Reigate rugby family passed away. Maurice Keene died peacefully in a nursing home in Worthing having spent his last years living near Ford, Arundel. Conversations with his son Marshall has revealed just how much rugby and this club meant to Maurice and our thoughts and wishes are with the family at this time. I know many of you will want to celebrate Maurice’s life and relive some great memories down at the club when we can all do so.

For those of you who may have been the club in the last few days or planning on popping down you will notice that we have erected temporary fencing and gate towards the top of the carpark. This is to deter joyriders that have been using the carpark to practise doughnut skills!! unfortunately this has had mixed results so a more permanent solution is being sought.

On a brighter note I am pleased to announce that the hard work of the committee (John and Steve in particular) has resulted in the awarding of a £10,000 grant to the club from Sports England. This is very welcomed news for the club and all monies will be spent directly on facilities and ongoing work to the pitches.

As we ease on the lockdown restrictions some age groups have gone back to social distance fitness only training. All RFU and government guidelines are being adhered to and the return to training plan has been approved by our child safety officer. Strict social distance rules apply during these sessions so if you plan on returning to training please check with Graeme or Drew to ensure there is no clashes with other age groups.
We can use the return to rugby as a recruitment opportunity to get kids and adults off the couch and out in the fresh air and participating as a team within the required health and safety guidelines. Can you please have a think about how we can use this as an opportunity to bolster numbers.

We are meeting as a committee in the coming weeks to discuss the upcoming season and the completion of work required around the club. I will update you on progress once completed.

AGM minutes will be sent out to all club members shortly once finalised by the club secretary.

Have a great weekend and stay safe.

Thanks & Regards,
Dec
