Match report- Hanley Town FC 0-0 Litherland REMYCA FC

Points were shared on the road for the REMY after a tense stalemate at Potteries Park.

Litherland struggled to get the ball flowing in the opening ten, with Hanley missing a chance on the ninth minute, that went past Ben Morrow on his post.

Just one minute later Hanley missed an easier chance after a pass into the box was missed by Jonathan Kapend.

Paul Foy struck a volley for the REMY on 14 minutes which went straight at the keeper, after some decent play from the midfield.

Our best chance of the game came straight off a Morrow goal kick on 27 minutes, when Liam Diggle attempted to chip the keeper, with the effort going just wide.

That was really it from the first half, with the game being tightly contested.

Ben Morrow put in a man of the match effort in goal for the REMY saving the boys several times in the second half.

He saved the team on 57 minutes with an outrageous one handed save after Chris Budrys shot on goal appeared to beating the keeper.

Declan Gregson was prolific on the wing for the REMY, but his crosses struggled to come to anything.

Our best chance of the second half came when Gregson crossed the ball in on 65 minutes only for Josh Thorpe of Hanley to clear his lines.

The boys struggled to cope with the pairing of Thorpe and partner Joel Stair throughout the game as Hanley appeared to be solid at the back.

There were calls for a penalty after a challenge from Gregson on Mackenzie Faulkner, but it came to nothing.

Thorpe should of scored the winner for Hanley, missing a sitter in front of goal, letting the REMY off the hook.

Hanley finished the game with 10 men after an off the ball confrontation between Christopher Boast and Liam Diggle led to Boast being sent off.

The defence were pretty solid throughout for the REMY and Ben Morrow was consistent throughout the game, but we struggled to make many chances in both halves. Morrow will also be happy with a first clean sheet of the season.

The point moves the REMY one place higher into 17th, with Hanley 16th.

We would like to thank Hanley for their hospitality and wish them luck for the rest of the season.
