Litherland REMYCA beat Cheadle to end winless streak

At last.

A brace from Alessandro Trapasso-Tully, a tidy finish from debutant Hassan Fox-Akande and a last-minute corker from William Paynter encapsulated a beautiful night of football and a 4-2 win under the LSP floodlights.

The win came 126 days and 24 games after Litherland's last three points. Worth the wait? Most definitely.

After a tight and even opening 20, debutant Che Trupassa-Trully decided to take matters into his own hands and blast an audacious strike from 30 yards. His shot bounced off the Cheadle bar but, according to the referee, not back over the line. An effort to give 2010 Lampard a run for his money.

REMY started to become the better team in the last 15 of the first half. And in the 33d minute, their persistence paid off. Ale Trapasso-Tully whipped in a corner from the left that evaded everybody and nestled into the back of the net. A well-deserved goal.

10 minutes later, Cheadle managed to find an equaliser with a decent finish into the bottom left corner after a scramble in the REMY box.

One kick-off, three or four "it's still 0-0 lads", 30 seconds and a REMY attack later, Litherland find the back of the net again. A good stop from the Cheadle keeper fell to the feet of new man Hassan Fox-Akande who tucked the ball into an empty net. Fox-in-the-box you could say... I'm sure he's heard it all before.

The second half became a battle for REMY, as they fought to keep the visitors from grabbing a second.

With 20 minutes to go, Ale Trapasso-Tully proved why he is the best full-back with a double barrelled name to have ever played in Liverpool as he smashed his second of the game into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

In the 90th minute, Cheadle finally penetrated REMY's defence again to make it a nervy last few minutes.

Four minutes added on. 3-2. Hearts in mouths. We could all picture the "sums up our season" tweet from Don. Everyone fearing the worst.

Everyone but substitute Billy Paynter.

With seconds on the clock, Paynter unsqueaked bums and took hearts out of mouths with a goal of the season contender. A corker rifled into the top corner was good enough to win any game of football, let alone one that that ended a 24 game winless streak. 4-2, game over.

Onto 14th placed Glossop North End away on Saturday in the NWCFL. Let's make this streak a winning one, eh REMY?
