Match Report- Litherland REMYCA FC 1-7 Ashton Athletic

It was a tough night for the REMY as they were beaten convincingly 1-7 by Ashton Athletic on Wednesday.

The first twenty minutes provided only one chance with Ben Morrow saving a shot from the outside of the box by tipping the ball over the bar.

Deadlock was broken on 30 minutes when Dale Korie-Butler’s looping header beat Morrow and went into the top corner.

However, Morrow would pull off two world class saves, with consecutive stops within the penalty box to stop Ashton’s lead from rising.

It didn’t last long, Korie-Butler latched onto another cross from the wing rifling the ball past Morrow. There was nothing the keeper could do.

As the second half began, the REMY needed to start the second half positively. This wasn’t to be though, as Korie-Butler stole the ball from the defence and his shot past Morrow in the box.

The possibility of a comeback was on, when a pass off a corner from Short was hoofed into the bottom corner by Lewis Codling wonderfully. This was like something from the training ground, lovely stuff.

Dreams of a comeback were over when Ashton added a fourth when Christopher Bandell’s shot beat Morrow from outside the area, to make it 1-4 to the visitors.

Bandell then scored a hatrick with two goals in two minutes. Both goals were headers, including a spectacular diving effort.

The defeat was confirmed in the last minute when Korie-Butler scored his fourth of the night.

It was a poor performance in the end from the REMY.

We would like to wish Ashton the best of luck for the rest of the season and thank their fans for visiting.
