Match Report- Litherland REMYCA FC 0-3 Rylands FC

Despite putting in a gutsy second half performance and going down to ten men in the first half, Litherland were beaten 0-3 by Rylands on Wednesday evening.

Josh Hamilton was shown a straight red card for catching Rylands player Harry Molyneux with his studs showing 20 minutes into the first half.

This led to Rylands capitalising on the extra man, with George Lomax slotting a goal past Ben Morrow in goal after a slight scramble into the box. Ste Wolhunter then scored for Rylands with a hard strike outside the box to give Rylands a 2-0 lead going into half time.

The REMY seemed to struggle to adjust to a change in formation in the first half after the red card. Early chances in the half and some gorgeous passes between the midfield and forwards gave fans a glimmer of what to look forward to for the season ahead.

The second half brought a solid defensive display from Litherland with Morrow and his defenders putting in a spirited display to hold Rylands back and stop their attacking threat. Jake Connor in particular made a marvellous goal line clearance to stop a clear goal attempt from the opposition.

REMY had a decent chance towards the end of the second half with Colin Quirk getting a half chance in the box, however the shot went straight at the opposing goalkeeper.

Unfortunately the game was sealed on 88 minutes with a third goal from Rylands. The REMY kept them on their toes for the majority of the second half and the defensive display will hopefully provide them a positive to work on for the next game.

Speaking of next game, we will play Avro on Saturday away from home in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. It would be great if you could join us there and support the boys.

We would like to thank any away fans who travelled to watch Wednesday’s game and wish Rylands the best of luck for the rest of the season.

Don't forget you can follow the team on Twitter for regular updates.
