Litherland Remyca led twice before succumbing to a 5-2 defeat at Allerton

Manager Dave Abraham was forced into a few changes with Joe McGovern, Nicolas Pollitt and David Flynn all unavailable from last weeks starting 11, so Chris Sheehan and James Holloway came into the along with 16 year Old John Holloway who was making his debut.

The game started and an early free kick was awarded to the home team Allerton which was taken but was knocked too long before running out of play. Remyca then made a great start and a ball down the left from Danny Campbell saw Tom Martin clear with a run through on the keeper and he calmly struck the ball home to give Remyca the lead after only 6 minutes.

The home side rallied after the goal and pushed forward and shortly after a shot at goal was deflected wide. The resulting corner was swung in and after a scramble in the box the ball was crashed into the roof of the net to bring the sides level at 1-1 after only ten minutes.

An end to end first twenty minutes saw both sides give the ball away far too often to the liking of both managers. A good move by Remyca saw the ball run through to the Allerton keeper who was quickly closed down by the debuting John Holloway and as the keeper tried to hit clear he only managed to hit it straight at Holloway whose header found the back of the net to put Remyca back in front on 12 minutes.

Allerton again pushed to gain a grip on the game and a shot from distance was saved by keeper Cameron. Some good play in midfield from Allerton soon had them level when a shot from 25 yards flew into the top corner to make it 2-2 after a scintillating first 23 minutes.

Some good play from Millington onto Martin saw a cross turned goal-wards from James Holloway but the Allerton keeper diverted it wide. The corner came in and beat everyone and drifted out for a throw-in to the home side. Allerton almost went ahead just before half time when a ball through caught out the Remyca defence and only a last ditch tackle from Campbell saw the shot blocked.

From the resulting corner some desperate defending kept the scores level as the cross came over a shot against the bar dropped to an Allerton forward only for the shot to be blocked on the line from Austin and the follow up shot blocked again by Captain Anthony Mee. Austin was back in action at the other end when his cross was turned onto the bar by James Holloway as Remyca almost snatched the lead with the last action of the half. HT 2-2.

Remyca keeper Cameron was back in action early on when a shot was smartly saved. Manager Abraham made his first change on 49 minutes when youngster John Holloway was replaced by Stephen Westhead on 49 minutes.

Jack Abraham was then fouled 25 yards out on the right hand side and his cross from the free kick was headed over by a defender for a corner to Remyca. The cross came in and it was cleared forward and Allerton made it count as they broke forward and scored to make it 3-2 as they led for the first time in the game.

This brought a reaction from the visiting manager as he brought on two subs in Darren Carr and Paul Benson for Millington and James Holloway on 59 minutes. Remyca had seemed to lose their shape and were giving the ball away far too easily and Allerton nearly made it 4 with a long shot whistling over the cross bar.

They didn’t have to wait too long though as Remyca lost the ball again and Allerton did make it 4-2 with a goal from a cross on the right on seventy minutes leaving Remyca stunned. The frustration started to boil over and Siadankay was booked two minutes later after an altercation with an opposing player as the referee booked both parties.

Soon the home side were cheering again when a controversial penalty was given by the linesmen as skipper Mee tried to close down an attack, but the ball struck his arm down by his side from close range and the linesman flagged for the penalty to the bemusement of the Remyca players.

The penalty was well struck and gave Cameron no chance to make it 5-2 on 82 minutes. Good work from substitute Carr down the right gave Benson a chance to shoot only to see the keeper save it as Remyca chased a late consolation goal.

Allerton almost made it six late on as a cross into the box was turned onto the cross bar. That was the last action of the game as Remyca went down 5-2.
