Match Report as REMYCA lose away to Lower Breck.

Litherland REMYCA suffered a narrow 2-1 away defeat to Lower Breck in the NWCFL Premier.

Two quickfire second half goals from Lower Breck proved crucial as they continued their 100% start to the new season.

New signing Tom Hilditch pulled a goal back for REMY late on but REMYCA suffer their third straight defeat in the league.

First half

REMYCA started the better of the two sides with Hilditch causing problems for the Breck defence with his pace in behind.

A quiet opening saw few clear-cut chances for either side. Niall Moran’s block at the near post denied Matthew Corness from opening the scoring after 20 minutes.

Three minutes later and full-back Hogan Ako found space inside the right channel for REMYCA but his cross flashed across the face of goal with no one to tap home.

REMYCA came closest to scoring in the first half through a free kick by James Hammill. His whipped free kick from the right was glanced onto his own bar by Breck defender Anthony Brown.

Three minutes before the break and REMYCA came close once again. Charles Ball drove with the ball at the Breck defence and fed loanee Rhys Long but his shot was saved by Breck keeper Joshua Molloy.

Second half

Lower Breck started the second half well and got their reward with two goals in the space of five minutes.

Two minutes after the break, winger Jamie Menagh beat Hogan Ako and delivered a cross that found the head of captain Michael Douglas who scored to give Breck the lead.

Gary Moore’s side got their second through striker Matthew Corness. Midfielder Will Dunne found a pocket of space in the REMY area and his pass across to Corness was guided home into the bottom right corner.

REMYCA shocked by the two quick goals looked to force the issue and James Hammill almost provided a route back into the game. Hammill’s left-footed curling strike had keeper Molloy beaten but his effort just went past the far post.

Derek Goulding’s side pulled one back six minutes from time through Tom Hilditch.

Hilditch – who only signed for the club on Friday – beat the offside trap to gather Harry Nevitt’s fantastic pass and take the ball round the goalkeeper to score.
