Remyca had to settle for a 3-3 draw after leading agaisnt Red Rum. Andy Jones returned to the squad following a lengthy injury lay-off.

Andy Jones was included in the squad for the first time since his horrific injury making the subs bench.

Remyca started well and control the early passage of play until a defensive error almost let in Red Rum to take the lead a good save by Cameron saving Remyca.

Some good play early on from debutant Callum O’Connor the youngster making his first start of the season. Remyca soon took the lead when a good ball out to the right from Abraham saw a great cross into the box from Darren Carr. James Holloway and Chris Sheehan burst into the box to finish but it was a visiting defender who got his foot to it first only to divert it home for an own goal.

A good start for Remyca although some hesitant moments at the back were giving Red Rum some hope and the home side kept giving away silly free-kicks, which was allowing the visitors to put pressure on with long balls into the box.

This soon paid off for the visitors and from a corner Remyca’s defence cleared to the edge of the box only for the shot coming in to be deflected, wrong-footing Cameron to give Red Rum the equaliser.

It didn’t take long for Remyca to get back on top and a great ball from Abraham put through James Holloway who calmly lobbed the onrushing keeper for a great finish. Remyca seemed to take control and soon increased their lead when Carr cut in from the right and slotted a shot into the far bottom corner for another great finish to make it 3-1 to the home side.

As the half was coming to a close disaster struck when a cross from the left found the Remyca defence struggling to clear their lines and after a scramble the ball was knocked home to make the HT score 3-2 to the home side.

The second half started with a strong wind getting up. Manager Dave Abraham made one change at half time, bringing another youngster in Jay Webb on for his first appearance of the season. He is the brother of Callum and Connor and Callum O’Connor made way after an impressive first half.

Red rum started the quicker and pressed Remyca back early on and a good early save from Cameron kept the 1 goal advantage intact. Remyca soon pressed again and only seemed to be missing that final ball to improve on their lead.

Soon poor passing soon allowed Red Rum to get going again and soon they had their chance to equalise only for their forward to waste the chance with a wayward shot over the bar.

It wasn’t long though before they got their equaliser when a cross from Close range seemed to come off the arm of skipper Anthony Mee and to the skipper’s annoyance the referee pointed to the spot. The spot kick was blasted into the roof of the net to make it 3-3.

Manager Abraham brought on striker Joe McGovern shortly after to try and get the goal Remyca needed to take the 3 points with James Holloway making way.

Remyca had countless chances from here on in but could not capitalise on any of them as they pressed to get the winner. A corner from Remyca minutes from the end almost gave the visitors a chance to take all 3 points when it was cleared and 3 players broke with only captain Mee between them and the keeper Cameron.

The Skipper held them up with some great play and eventually the ball was cleared by Flynn.
Final score 3-3.
Remyca will be kicking themselves allowing the visitors to get back in the game after going 3-1 up. Next week it is onto the challenge cup away to Garswood Utd.
