Litherland Remyca FC returned to winning ways with an emphatic 4-1 win against Kingsley United on Saturday.

The first 20 minutes of the game was played in hailstone and torrential rain which made it difficult for the players to play. Remyca won an early corner after McGovern worked his way down the left. Although the cross came to nothing and the Kingsley defence cleared easily, Remyca pressed again and were awarded a free kick 30 yards from goal. Mee had the shot but it was saved by the keeper.

Cameron at the other end was soon in action as he made a smart save from the visitors forward. Another raid forward by Carr down the right hand side saw the forward fouled and a free kick given to Remyca.

The cross was over-hit and came to nothing. Remyca were trying their best to get control of the game in the terrible early conditions. A rare break from the visitors saw the Remyca back line stretched and a good block from Sheehan gave the Kingsley team a breather with a corner.

The cross was cleared and as Remyca broke Wright was brought down on the half way line which saw the first yellow of the game. A Remyca short free kick and good interplay was brought them the opener as a cross from Abraham saw it partially cleared straight to McGovern who lashed a shot in from the edge of the box to open the scoring and give the home side a deserved lead.

The striker seemed relieved to get his goal after a lean spell. Remyca again pressed in what was becoming an impressive half in which the players seemed to be enjoying as Carr was again brought down this time 20 yards from goal in a central position. Abraham firing over the resulting shot.

It was not long before Remyca doubled their lead when the best move of the half saw a neat one two from Wright and McGovern saw winger Wright get the cross in for Carr to control and strike home to make it 2-0.

It’s always said in football you are at your most vulnerable when you have just scored and Remyca gave away a goal straight away as they seemed to switch off, as the visitors scored direct from a free kick after a foul on the edge by Westhead and a low shot went under the wall as they jumped.

This woke Remyca back up and they almost made it 3-1 when Austin broke down the right only to shoot wide when he seemed to have more time as the game went end to end in the last minutes of the half. Remyca pressed hard in the final minutes of the half but could not make the pressure pay and went in at HT 2-1 up.

Kinglsey came out for the 2nd half pressing Remyca hard looking for an equaliser and some good defending snuffed them out early on. Some good work from Flynn and Abraham saw the ball out wide for Carr to cross only to see it cleared for a corner as the game was end to end early in the half.

The corner was cleared easily and saw Kingsley break away as the Remyca defence back pedalled before a shot from long distance went way over the top.

Again the visitors pressed after winning the ball back and good defending by Flynn saw him clear the danger. Remyca were trying to get control of the 2nd half like they had in the first and some good play from Abraham and McGovern released Wright only for the winger to be blocked out as Remyca pushed on.

This brought the manager Abraham to bring on his first sub as Connor Webb replaced youngster Callum O'Connor after he had impressed in central midfield in a like for like change.

Remyca were playing some good football in this half and cross from Flynn almost caught the keeper out and he had to tip over the bar to give Remyca a corner. The corner taken from Abraham and a header was put wide by Carr. Connor Webb was soon involved with the game and after winning the ball in midfield he released Abraham who's cross was turned in by striker McGovern to restore Remyca’s goal cushion.

A rare attack from Kingsley saw a great tackle on the run from Sheehan as the defender won the ball and calmly gave it into midfield to start another attack. A cross from Webb almost came to another from Remyca as the keeper seemed to flap at the ball and as it dropped to Abraham his shot was blocked well by the defender to stop a certain goal.

Again a good move down the right started by the impressive Abraham saw a cross over-hit by Austin and go out for a throw on the far side as Remyca pushed to kill the game off.

They almost got the fourth when a throughball saw Austin one on one with the keeper only to see his shot deflect wide for a corner off the keepers legs.

The corner came in from Wright only to see the keeper punch clear and a shot from Carr was blocked for another corner. the cross came in and McGovern headed wide.
Some good work again from Wright, Abraham and McGovern saw the visiting keeper cut out the cross.

Manager Abraham made his second change and a debut for Liam O'Connor, the brother of Callum, came on for Carr on 65 minutes as the striker seemed to have a tight hamstring. Webb almost had his name on the score sheet but as the space opened up his shot was sent over the bar.

It wasn’t long before Remyca got their fourth as the same 3 players for the 3rd combined again for McGovern to get his hat trick as a ball from Webb was smarty turned on from Abraham to put the striker through one on one and the strikers renewed confidence saw him round the keeper and slot home to make it 4-1.

It was a goal Remyca’s play deserved as the manager has been expressing the short ball passing movement style. Remyca were now pushing on and got another corner after a tackle on Austin. As the corner was floated in a header from Mee was deflected wide for another corner.

This corner was cleared and after a one two between Austin and Abraham saw the latter crash the ball against the ball and away to safety and the midfielder almost got the goal his play deserved. Remyca were keeping the ball much better now and the confidence was showing after a run of poor results.

A late break forward from the visitors saw a save from Cameron as the final whistle blew for full time and a confident performance from the lads saw a much needed 3 points
