Remyca beat Stoneycroft to increase their unbeaten run to five games.

There was only one change from last week’s win at South Sefton with Steve Westhead replacing the injured Callum O’Connor.

Remyca started well and controlled early exchanges.as the team played some nice football at times, keeping the ball well. James Holloway again opened the scoring after a good through ball from Abraham cutting the defence open for a cool finish from the big front man into the corner of the net.

Remyca almost made in 2 straight away when Holloway bravely headed on for Carr to race clear only to see the keeper save one on one with his legs. Remyca seemed to be taking early control of the game and were creating chances almost every time they went forward again a good cross from the right from Austin almost put in Carr only for the forward to mistime and his effort went over the top.

With all this pressure on the Stoneycroft goal it seemed almost inevitable Remyca would get a second but the final ball wasn't forth coming and chances were going begging. Remyca almost paid the price for the missed chances when a cross-come-shot beat Cameron only for defender Sheehan to be alert and clear off the line.

This was a warning to the Remyca lads coming up to half time but they could not find a way through to increase their lead. HT 1-0.
Stoneycroft started the 2nd half with a real buzz after their chance in the first half and a sluggish Remyca could not keep the ball a total contrast to the first half. The visitors got their reward when an attack caught Remyca cold and they made it 1-1. This allowed the visitors to get players behind the ball now and they were frustrating Remyca, trying to catch them on the counter attack as the Remy lads went all out to get the 3 points.

Time and again the final ball not quite good enough to create a clear chance to put them back in front. Manager Abraham made a triple change when he brought on McGovern for Carr and Strain for Westhead, with Campbell coming on for Wright.

This brought a re-shuffle and skipper Mee was pushed into midfield with Campbell slotting into the back 3 alongside Sheehan and Flynn, Austin going over to the left and Strain going to the right. Remyca were desperate for the 3 points to keep moving up the table but had to be wary of Stoneycroft attacking when they lost the ball.

Remyca eventually got the goal they deserved when good interchange by Abraham and Strain saw Abraham brought down in the penalty area and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Up stepped captain Mee to fire into the keepers top right hand side.

Within a minute Remyca made the points safe when great closing down by Holloway on the visiting keeper forced a mistake which allowed McGovern fire home from an acute angle to put the home side 3 -1 up.
Remyca carried on to the final whistle trying to get a fourth but it wasn't to be and they had to settle for the 3-1 result and 3 points to take their unbeaten run to 5 games.

With tough games against Page Celtic away and East Villa at home before the Christmas break it’s an important 3 points in the push for the Top places. Well done to the lads.
