Litherland Remyca lost their second successive game as East Villa ran out 3-1 winners at Litherland Sports Park

It was a first start for Andy Jones in this game as another made his return to the club in Jake Worrell.

Remyca made a quick paced start as they looked to take control early on and some good inter play gave Connor Webb a chance from just outside the box but he snapped at his shot and screwed it well wide.

Again some good play down the right by Austin and Carr saw the ball fall to Webb only for him to shoot over the top and miss the target again. This brought East Villa to life and they almost opened the scoring when a quick counter attack left the Remyca defence behind and only for the post Villa would have had the lead.

Straight from this Remyca also nearly took the lead when 17 year old John Hollloway hit the post, as the game was stretched and became very end to end.

Remyca earned the first corner of the game and a flick on from Carr landed for Jones only for him to see his shot blocked. East Villa were given a free kick in a dangerous position down the left after a foul by Austin but good defending by Flynn cleared the danger.

Austin was in action again at the right end of the pitch when his speculative shot almost found the top corner but the keeper saved well. Worrell had a great chance to open the scoring on his return when good closing down by Holloway made the defence present Worrell with a chance only for the shot to be driven wide.

Holloway was in the action again shortly afterwards when he flicked the ball up and volleyed a shot which the keeper turned over the top. From the corner Jones headed on for Carr but his shot flew over the top. Villa them again caught Remyca asleep on the attack and only for a poor shot wide should have taken the lead. HT 0-0

Villa should have scored in the early minutes of the half when a glorious chance fell at the back post only for the forward to hit over the bar from 6 yards, a let off for Remyca.

Remyca took full advantage of this and struck the first goal when a ball forward was headed on By Holloway to Carr who raced down the right hand side to cross to the back post for Westhead to fire home to put the home side 1-0 up.

Remyca almost repeated the same move only for Carr’s cross this time float over the crossbar. This brought East Villa to life as they pressed for the equaliser a shot hit the post and only a smart save from keeper Cameron helped keep the score 1-0.

The equaliser wasn’t far away and Villa were rewarded for their pressure when they broke down the right and a nice one, two on the edge was finished after a deflection wrong footed Remyca’s keeper to make it 1-1.

Villa were now on top and pressed forward to get a winner and as the forward ran on into the box defender Flynn dived in and the referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot for a penalty. The penalty was firmly despatched into the keeper’s left hand corner to give the visitors the lead 2-1.
Remyca pressed to get back on level terms but were always open to the counter attacking of the away side and as time was running out the Villa side made it 3-1 from a quick counter which left Remyca heads bowed.

Two defeats in the last two games before Christmas left the players and manager deflated after the game. The next game is on 4th January against a high flying LN Warbreck side before two cup games. Good luck to the lads in the New Year.
